4. The Castle
A small mediaeval castle made of adobe and protected by a trench hewn in the rock. it was used as strategic point from which to control the river anf the whole area of plain and mountains around it. It was built in the 14th century by the city of Barcelona in order to control the traffic along the River Ebro and to divert wheat coming from Aragon to an overland route, thus avoiding the toll levied on Barcelona by the town of Tortosa.
