The cuisine of the Empordà region has been excellently described by Josep Pla. Especially recommended are the seafood dishes such as: el suquet de peix (a casserole containing several kinds of fish and sometimes crustaceans ans molluscs), la sípia amb pèsols (cuttlefish with peas), l'arròs negre (black rice coloured by cuttlefish ink), les garoines de Palafrugell (sea urchins), la gamba de Palamós (prawns), el xanguet (small, siverside fish) and all the rich variety of the local catch.

- Traditional, popular earthware at la Bisbal d'Empordà in Baix Empordà.
- Sweets ans pastries: bunyols (fritters), la coca de llardons (a kind of sweet pizza) or the tortell de massapà (marzipan tart).
- The many types of Spanish sausage, including bull (haggis-type sausage in large intestine) and botifarra dolça (sweet fresh sausage).
