Research
The Museu d’Arqueologia de Catalunya’s scientific laboratories support research activities linked with the study of archaeological material and respond to the needs of MAC branches and their related projects.
With this objective in mind, the MAC collaborates in a host of specialised scientific activities, including research projects, congresses and round tables, workshops and courses, archaeological excavations and heritage restoration projects. The MAC has also formed scientific collaboration agreements with universities and other archaeological research centres.
MAC Barcelona houses both archaeometallurgy and restoration/preservation laboratories, MAC Girona archaeobotany and restoration/preservation laboratories, and the CASC equipment needed in the restoration and preservation of wet archaeological material, particularly organic material.
