100 Years of Research in a Sacred Place

The Cogul cave paintings became the first images of Catalonia’s prehistory. News of the Roca dels Moros del Cogul first appeared in the newspaper La Veu de Catalunya on 9 & 10 April 1908, and shortly after in the Butlletí del Centre Excursionista de Catalunya (Excursionist Centre of Catalonia Bulletin). Both reviews were written by geographer Ceferí Rocafort. El Cogul would quickly become an essential reference in the study of national and international cave art.
