This exhibition, produced by the Archaeology Museum of Catalonia through Arqueoxarxa - which brings together the major archaeological museums and archaeology sites from Catalunya - includes pieces on loan from various museums that are members and allows explore the evolution of games des from antiquity to the middle Ages, while highlighting the wide variety of formulas used to fill of fun, and sometimes learning, leisure time.

Games and toys in ancient times, a sign that allow us to discover how the game has been a tool of fun and learning that accompanies man des millennia ago.


The need to play is intrinsic to human beings, as evidenced by the fact that they have preserved numerous games and toys since ancient times, many of which are still in full force, both in the world of children as in adults. There are games that despite begin in childhood, acquire new meaning in adulthood, become a form of entertainment and a way to win or lose money, according to skill or chance.


The exhibition Toys and Games in antiquity was conceived by the Museum of Badalona, ​​and collect some 130 archaeological pieces from 13 museums in Catalunya . Highlights include: a rattle Bronze rom National Archaeological Museum of Tarragona, a Hellenistic doll by the Archaeology Museum of Catalonia - Empúries, a figurine of a horse from Museum Tarrega or a board andalusí by the County Museum of Noguera, Balaguer.

The exhibition will be complemented by various activities that take us to experience some of the most common games over time , but also others that are unknown to us now , but they had a great popularity at the time.
