Indiketes. The Iberian culture in Empúries and Castell
Archaeological evidence from Empúries and the iberian settlement of Castell (Palamós)
An exhibition that brings us closer to the Indiketes, the Iberian tribe from the Empordà region that lived with the Greeks and the Romans in Classical antiquity. Thanks to the archaeological evidence provided by the Empúries excavations their presence can be documented, first with the Greeks of Emporion and later with the Romans of Emporiae. Nevertheless, the city of Indika, the capital of the Indiketes which, according to written sources, was next to Emporion, has not yet been found.
The exhibition also allows us to get to know what life was like in the villages of the Indiketes from the 6th century BC to the 1st century AD, thanks to the excavations carried out on the Iberian settlement of Castell (Palamós) and shows us, for the first time, some of the objects used by the Indiketes and found in Empúries and Castell.
