Culip VI
(Cadaqués, Alt Empordà)
Archaeologists have determined that this shipwreck, excavated by the CASC between 1988 and 1990, had set sail from northern Africa with a shipment of Nasrid pottery, dating the vessel to the end of the 13th century. Furthermore, excavations have brought to light numerous fauna and dry fruit remains which enhance our knowledge on maritime trade in the Middle Ages.
The remains of this twin-masted galliot with a Latin sail were discovered in a good state of preservation, and thus an exhaustive study could be performed; a study of great interest with respect to understanding the evolution of 13th century naval technology.
