How it all began...
The Palaeolithic era is the first and by far the longest stage of mankind. It is the era which saw the origin of our species, evolving from the earliest hominids into today’s human beings, Homo sapiens, between 200,000 and 160,000 years ago. Its beginnings are considered to coincide with the first stone tools, and it ends with the start of agriculture.
Although for us it seems a very distant time, it was essential for our development. For it was during this period that our ancestors acquired the traits that define the human condition: making tools, controlling fire, talking and communication, representing reality, farewell rituals for the dead...
