Tivissa treasure

Under reform (visitable)

Starting in the 6th-7th centuries B.C. the indigenous societies undergo a process of gradual evolution from the Bronze Age to the Iberian culture. Throughout the eastern area of the Peninsula, a series of tribes and villages share a series of common cultural traits: first signs of urban planning, widespread use of iron metallurgy and potter's wheels, a hierarchical social structure, writing, and growing trade with the Mediterranean peoples, the Greeks and Punics. This has a decisive influence on the configuration of the society , the religion, the economy, and the craftmanship of the Iberian world. In the Museum different objects from Catalonia, Baix Aragó, País Valencià, Múrcia and Andalusia can be seen. The silver treasure from the town of Castellet de Banyoles (Tivissa) is especially noteworthy.
